Just thought this would be a fun question to get folks thinking positive..so much negative bad news lately. Anyways...have fun with it !

I'll start...If its a nice day here..going for a nice long walk with my dog in tow on the beach to start off to chat n get to know'm better..if it's going good after a walk...go get a coffee slushy or lite up a bonfire on the beach n chat some more.
We dont have a shooting range up here, so we have to drive to the mountains n make our own. Being that where I go is bout 30 miles in no mans land...I wouldnt be inviting a strange guy to go shooting on a first date..I wouldnt want to invite a situation to have to shoot someone on my first meeting ya know ;) ..all kidding aside, If we had a nice shooting range up here that'd be a fun date at some point.
what are some other's ideas or that you've done?

the only two 'dates' ive had were just going out to dinner. any other chicks ive met, even in high school, were at parties and later at bars. i wont be doing any of that again...

my idea of a great first date would be going to a park or popular lake (someplace public, we meet there, so i can leave if i wanna), have a nice picnic lunch, maybe with some good beer or wine, talk, see where things go. things go good, after lunch something fun, kayaks maybe, or the shooting range would be great.

in the winter, would be lunch someplace kinna nice, and not crowded. kayakings out, but theres an indoor paintball place here that would be a great 'have fun get to know you' activity.

kayaking!! fun! same with the paint ball too.. dinner n movie is way overrated n if one is trying to watch weight..both means another 5 mile run the next day and harder gym time... mellow activities are great get ta know ya n a good way to see if someone can really walk the walk n keep up...

Worst First Date IMHO:
"Dinner and a Movie", in either order, it's still 2 hrs of enforced shutting up and another 2 hrs of talking between bites or swallows. Concerts rank right up there for suckitude as well.

Amusement/Theme parks rank pretty high IMHO.

Hay Rides, 'Holiday' Festivals, County Fairs (not necessarily YOUR county), Lake cruise on pontoon boat (fireworks), Hot Air Balloon Races/Air Shows, airplane ride (if she won't vomit), Powerboat tubing or slow cruise down a river tubing... I've done all of these

I'm with Blob, street festivals and fairs make great first dates. There are enough distractions so you have something to think about if things aren't going well, but at the same time, you have various topics for conversation.

I wish we had more of that fun stuff going on around here...there really isnt a whole lot going on in this town but when there is I try n go... usually by myself just to get out n go look.
Last month a ballet troup rolled into town for a performance. I used to dance n never actually seen a real troup live so it was interesting. Those dancers made it look so easy. I havent been to a airshow in years!! The last one I went to probably 20 years ago was over by my old stomping ground at Beale AFB..I love to go look at all the jets n big B-52's. Now that my brother lives close to the base I can go to the next one...
Anyways..some great ideas to keep in mind :)

LOL I live in a dry county so we don't have bars. However, I am fortunate that our tiny little town does have a lot of activities. Last weekend was "Old Yeller Day" (the book was written in Mason) and it featured live music, a pet parade, food, etc. Next weekend, we have two community events. The first Friday of every month, we have the "First Friday Art Walk". We have Frontier Days, a Memorial Day parade, Independence Day activities, etc. It is surprising for such a small town.

wow kejmack..awesome!

we do have some stuff like x mas parade, thankgiving dinner..that kinda stuff for the major holidays. In between in winter months, once every month or two we have some kind of performance at the junior high from out of town type performers. I hit that up now n then..In summer we have abundant outdoor activities to enjoy like the beach, ocean surfing, fishing, rivers everywhere, lots of trails n wild places to hike. It has potential for lots of fun..almost everyone I've met out were couples out enjoying it. My luck...

..It is great to share n teach the skills folks like us find interesting with others.

..Its a rare gift to find a partner who enjoys teaching and learning or at least trying it out

..that, along with chemistry n attraction = :flower:

Rare indeed... My last gf was... Well let's say very talented, but just refused to try anything outdoorsy other than laying out on the beach by the river.

I've a history of making poor choices with woman.

:sssh: well then Fattire...
...perhaps maybe you might and try..and reach out, broaden your talent
"must-haves" and expand your horizons in your search for a like minded prepper gal??
You might be plesantly surprised, maybe some woman keep special talents hidden a bit more to be appreciated by only those deserving ;)

just a though...
but I symthatize..I to had a nack for making poor choices with the boys...n got tired of it n gave up for to long. Now where'd that get me?? sigh...

an evening at the beach, a fire, a sunset and hanging out!
a day long wander through the local swap meet (I like the beach night better but you can have a great time just chit chatting and watching people do crazy things)
a day hike! a pic-nic lunch especially with the dogs!

an afternoon fishing?
an afternoon trap shooting?
if both people are gambling fans then maybe poker or blackjack at the local casino, plus a buffet dinner!

I have other ideas but it's better to keep an ace up my sleeve in case it's ever needed :p
