I've wanted a high capacity, semi-auto rifle for a couple years. Well the opportunity and funds finally came together at the same time. I exchanged a few emails with Hozay Buck and he gave me the OK to snag it.

It's Romanian AK47. It came with 3-30rd mags, a leather pouch for carrying them, a bayonet, muzzle break, 2 slings, a manual on how to break it down, 200rds of 122 grain 7.62x39 and NO paper trail. $300. :D

After I did a job this morning and stopped at my favorite little gun shop to order 2000rds, we went down into the woods and played. I pinned an 10" paper plate to a tree. At about 70-80 yards in a kneeling position I had nice 6" group although they were all a couple inches left of center. Standing, I didn't fare as well. I only hit my plate 3 times out of 10. Don't know if it was me or the sights that are off. I want to take it to the range, put it on a rest and see what the results are.
It's a little scary how fast you can send 100rds down range when all you have to do is pop in a full mag and start shooting again. Could get a wee bit expensive if you're not careful. Over all though, I'm quite happy with the acquisition. Now I'm going to keep my eye out for another one for AuntJoe.
Nothing says I Love You like an AK47. :D

I've tried about a half dozen times but I can't seem to upload the pics. I'll try again later.

Cooool! I'm turnin' green with envy here, UncleJoe.

You probaly already know this, but if you buy foreign ammo, some have a very corrosive primer. You'd need to clean the weapon every time after shooting. Hozay probably has a good handle on what ammo to be cautious about.

Cool! I really like my MAK 90. I have the same problem with ammo. It's just too much fun to shoot a bunch of it!!!! :D

I bought mil. surplus magazines for mine since in my experience they work better than aftermarket replacement mags.

Yep. Hozay was right on top of things. Thanks Joe. :beercheer:
I ordered 2 cases of Wolf; 1000rds per case. Should be in this week sometime. I actually did a small job for the gun shop owner so he is buying one case and I'm buying another.
That should help hold off the zombies for a little while. :D

I finally got a couple of the pics resized. Don't know why I'm having trouble with it. Never did before. :dunno:

Sue, I just learned this. You should have a program on your computer (should be there when you bought the computer) called paint or something like that. You open that, put the pic in there and it has a resize option. I had to fiddle with it a bit to figure it out but it's not hard to get a handle on it.

Man, that looks like fun to play with! All I can afford right now is...well, nothing. I want to get a Mossberg Mariner as a birthday present to myself. My FH won't buy me guns. :-(

Howdy Joe!

Got busy and forgot about the PM's we passed back and forth.. Looking good!! gonna stick frogs with that pointy thang on the front???.. :D

Welcome to the "DARKSIDE" !!! I did forget to mention that Wolf makes Soft point ammo..think it's heavier..like 140ish maybe a bit more.. for meat shooting you'll need it.. hell for zombie shooting it's good.. blows bigger holes..:D I bought a case of it and split it with a buddy simply because I'll never use even 500 rounds ..but having them is better then not!

I would recommend buying Bulgarian mags if you can, they are the best.. and I stay away from the US made poly mags..the front lip wears down with the kind of use I give them.. after taking the mags apart to scrub them out ( you didn't??:eek:) I use tool and break cleaner and really scrub them out.. hot soapy water does just as well.. I lay them out in the sun to dry out then shoot a bit of dry graphite into them.. you only need do this once every couple of years unless you abuse the hell out of them as I do... they are made to run a tank over but like anything can get clogged with crap.. I haven't had a failure to feed but why chance it...

You may have noticed when you shoot it there is a sharp ( often painful) trigger slap.. this can be stopped, it requires a change of triggers but this is a win win... Red Star Arms Inc. - First Page has a trigger that's sweet!! if you got lucky and yours is good then don't bother..

I replaced the furniture on me Arsenal inc AK because I needed a longer stock .. but if yours fits you and shoots good don't mess with it!... as for the sights.. there is a tool made for this.. the rifle should hit that paper plate at 100 yds no sweat from a bench.. in fact with a good rest and decent trigger I'll bet your blown away with it...

I'd stay from the Rommy AK's.. they are being imported as new and are rough.. but that shoot so...

I just acquired an Egyptian Maddi AK..very nice!! a bit pricy but came with a lot of extras and no paper!!...

I should post a pic or two of mine.. I do love em!.. GUN PORN!!..

Naaah, just thought it looked cool at the time. It's not there anymore.

Yep, already thought of SP, just haven't done anything about it yet.

Nope, never even thought about it. I will now though.:)

No "trigger slap" but yeah, the stock is about 2"-3" too short. It doesn't pull up very well at all. I got to play with another one over the weekend that had a folding stock and it was the perfect. It was at a flea market so I didn't take the time to measure it but something needs done. I don't like having to pull up and then back. All my other toys come right to my shoulder.

Tweek? yep. As stated above; the stock needs major tweeking.
Pink? uh... Probably not. :D

Now for the $64,000 question, is this multi-quote thing going to work for me. Never tried it.

I was looking at ammo reviews on a few gun forums and came across one fellow with this as his sig line. Found it amusing and thought I'd share.

The AK-47: Designed to be easily field stripped, reassembled, and used effectively by half-drunk, half-frozen, illiterate conscripts. Standard Operating Procedure upon finding one buried in Mother Russia's mud after last year's Regimental exercises: retrieve from ground, pee into action, cycle bolt, and get back to work.

Picked up another new toy at an auction today. A 1952 Ithaca model 37 12 ga. pump. Even came with the original box. :) Everything feels nice and tight but I'll be taking it to the smitty next week to have him look it over for me. When I got home to look it up and see what I had, I found that it has the same "slam-fire" feature as my Winchester97.

We now have 6- 12ga shotguns.
2- 30-30
3- .22's
1- 8mm Mauser
The AK
3 handguns; .357, .380 and .22
A little over 20,000rds for this stuff.
About 300 feed bags for filling with sand or gravel which we have on site.

I'm beginning to feel a little better about our defensive capabilities. It's taken us a little over 4 years to get to this point. Adding another AK and maybe another 5-6000rds will round things out and have us prepared as best we can for whatever may come our way.

I'm sure that some folks would consider this arsenal woefully inadequate while others would be green with envy. But it's what we have to work with. :dunno:

Easy as pie.

Three methods:
[1]Take the stock off and start a fire with it after you have procured a more aesthetically pleasing replacement.

[2]Remove the wood and start sanding, follow up with 000 steel wool and some maple stain.allow to dry 48 hours and varnish.my Draco hand guard was like it came straight from the planer to the gun.:p

[3]Strip the wood, put on two coats of black sand primer/one coat of spray in truck bed liner/and 5 coats of automotive semi gloss Urethane.

That in itself is proving to be problematic.
I found 2 screws that appear to hold it on but it doesn't seem to want to come off. Is there another hidden screw somewhere or is the wood just fitted that tight.
