The hair is standing up on the back of my neck today. Not sure just what is going down, but I have a tremendous urge to step up my preps starting today. Has anyone else had this feeling today???

No significant difference from normal - but - I am held back on any boosts in production / collection by both time and money. Time because it is spring and I still cannot put the first seeds into the ground and money because my paycheque is "spent" till the end of the month when all my bills are automagically sucked out of my account.

After that, then I might have some money to play with.

not today, but last week...anxiety level I am thinking about is bugging me for some reason....

I am canning right now more meat ...

What are you feeling? What's your instinct on a reason?

just asking because I love taking about women's intuition. I talk, usually my hubby listens when I say ... I feel like this or that ...

sometimes, and this may be TMI, I really feel that way around that time of the month...

I have all the provisions I can handle right now, just sat around for days with that do something feeling too!!

So, I decided to empty/use our propane tank, swap it for a 500 gallon and fill that sucker when the price goes down this summer...;)

    There, now I feel better.:congrat:

Edit: and I have more butter to can and more syrup to make and can.

I have had feelings of anxiousness regarding prepping - we aren't doing enough fast enough and something's coming down the pike.

Now it's more a sense of nesting - not as much anxiousness as before, but still a need to 'get things in order' before.... ?....... (and of course, it's that unknown that gets to ya).

Glad you posted about this - I value your intuition.

Not today but when we went away Friday morning, it was to be a 3 days trip.
At 8:30PM that night I told DH I wanted to go home. He gets us packed up and we head back home. I felt something was wrong and didn't rest till we got home after midnight. I've been canning and dehydrating like crazy...go figure. My gut never fails me.

I have no feelings of overwhelming anxiety and that causes me to wonder why not. I have had no inclination to materially prepare for anything now or at all in a long time, but yet I know something is coming. It's my belief that the coming debt bomb is unavoidable. However, before we get to point of the peasants to gather up pitchforks to coordinate an effort against the people in power, we will have a huge distraction to contend with instead. National emergency, nuke dirty bomb, large extended power grid disruption.
I believe you should prepare for the loss of internet access. That loss might be blamed on some foreign nation creating a cyber-attack. Without communication, are you an island? With only shortwave communication, do you believe the reports that you can no longer see?
Why am I not worried? Why am I still wasting money I don't have? Will it matter?

    Got that to

I've had the feeling for a couple of weeks now. We were supposed to have a getaway to Vegas for 4 nights next week, I cancelled it due to an overwhelming feeling. Didn't feel good about traveling or leaving our children with grandparents. On another note, I was worried about not having an appropriate BOV. Was searching craigslist for an rv/camper all weekend. We own an auto repair shop, and today, we had a customer show up who didn't have $ to pay after his car was fixed. He came back with an old motorhome and asked if we'd accept that for payment! Wish more preps would just show up in the drive like that!:p

Anxiety levels are starting to rise ... I was waiting to pay for my fuel the other day when a 'lady ' went overboard over a cookie in the check out line. The price for the cookie, one dollar!... She had a fit right there.

She was NOT going to pay that for a 25 cent cookie ... (and I agree with her ... it was a 25 cent cookie) ... she ranted and raved for a few minutes ... then told the clerk where they could stick that cookie. :)eek:)

It did give me a chill ... of things to come ...

And to be honest it gave me a clue ... kind of scary when you think about it, but folks are starting to get "mad".

Keep an eye & a ear open...

I am getting the anxious feeling too. I feel like I can not plant a big enough garden or have enough food on the hoof. I also feel like I need to empty out my freezer and dehydrate all the food in it that I can.
We also have a little bit of money from income tax return and my working for 6 weeks and I have been holding onto it rather than paying off debt. I feel like I need to get more food but I KNOW that I NEED to get the credit card paid off....even though it is not enough to pay it off it will pay if down significantly. There is a major battle between paying down debt and buying food going on in my head!! I also have a major anxiety over wanting a larger piece of land in order to grow more food and raise more meat animals.

*Andi, I can totally picture that scene. And the thing is, she probably wasn't truly mad at the clerk (the clerk doesn't make the prices) - she just hit her snapping point. We're all feeling the sqeeze...

I've been feeling a sense of urgency for the past few months but no real feelings of anxiety. Rather than getting angry at the random clerk who doesn't set the prices, that woman should be focusing her energies on something constructive, like prepping. Unfortunately, most people will continue to be angry and turn on each other rather than do the right thing.

So split it in half. Food is not going to get any cheaper. Several food suppliers have recently announced 7%-10% increases that will be showing up on the shelf by June. If things go south in a hurry, you still need to eat.
Personally, I would be more concerned about being able to eat than I would losing a few points on my credit score. But that's just me. :)

I agree with UncleJoe. Let the credit score take a hit or 2.

I've recently found out that next year our Credit Scores may not even matter. It's all about Fical Score (not sure if thats what its called or spelled). Debt has started taking it's turn on our family and right now we only focus on the MUST HAVEs. It seems that everyday I am on the phone with payday loan people telling to either wait or report it. I'll get it taken care of when I can, but right now, other things are more important.

We don't have a house payment on where we live, but we did recently purchase a home (thats not liveable atm) that we had to take a loan out on. We had to aquire a new vehicle since we added our new little member to our family last april. Another payment there. We gotta have electricity. Our is Pre-Pay. We run out, it goes off. Takes 10 bucks to turn it back on and that goes applied to the balance. We use about 3 bucks a day. Gotta have insurance on that new vehicle. lol! Payment must. Phone and internet a must (do people still live without these? lol). Then of course you gotta keep money aside to fuel up your vehicles. 200bucks easy.

Anxiety has set in when we started to fall behind. Realizing that the bills that can be put off and paid later, was a HUGE lift from it all. Not a lot of people can argue with, I need baby formula and electricity first.

My advice would be to sit down, make a list of things that you need to get or focus on. Take a weekend and spend it freely with some friends. Go see that movie that is in the dollar theatres now. Relax and realize that even a little bit prepared is way better off than the non-prepared.

Found this to be a very interesting subject. We are also starting to see the impending doom coming about. It seems to be speeding up more and more by the day. I have some of my seed starts that are looking pretty good. But still need a lot more. House is paid, land is paid, solar and wind gennie all paid, but alas, the credit cards remain. Oh well, what will they do if they dont get a payment or two , They will just raise the interest I suppose where I can't pay it anymore at all. At least my propane tank is full and winter is finally over, so won't need to worry about heating anymore.

I do feel that all is not well and something soon will happen

I’ve been feeling it too. I canceled a Fishing trip to Buxton, NC this weekend to not only save a few bucks but to play in the garden, actually to expand it some. I attribute it to what we are not hearing in the news. We do not hear about Fukashima, the finances of the US as in reserve status and defaulting or anything I would think important. All we hear about is Syria right now and how we need to help the people there. I also hear a lot about Iran and how they ‘might’ be preparing a WMD to try and take over the world. I hear nothing about China, N. Korea, Russia or any other world power. I do hear about the magnificent wedding and how happy the world is because of it. Hey [email protected]@k, who is back on the island show!!! <== Makes the evening news?

I realize that the things we are not hearing might cause a panic if we do hear about them but some of us would like to know.
