    None for Louisiana... :(
But I have personal experience with one of the sheriffs of Mississippi listed here. He's a flake and easily bought by a bottle of crown royal. Nothing he says or does means a damn thing. I'm sure he's not the only one that falls into the category, but everything he says and does is orchestrated to get votes. I guess that's just the political way. Part of the reason I left that area. He's about as dependable as... Well, not even the worst lemon car compares to him. Too bad...

If you live in one of these counties, I would suggest you write a letter to the sheriff thanking him/her for their stand against tyranny. The Feds are working on a way to withhold funds from these counties and I'm sure it will be enough for some of them to buckle.

Didn't see my county on the MT list, guess I need to stop by and tell my former partner he had better get on this list, he's a member of the Sheriff's and Peace Officers Association and I believe they don't support the new gun laws

There seems to be some errors (at least one for sure) on this list. The sheriff of Polk County Florida is Grady Judd. I'm sure he still is supportive of the 2A but I noticed it and thought I'd pass it along.

Hope that list starts growing fast. Guess it's time to make a visit to my sherrif. That is just too pitifully small a list to even be worth mentioning just yet. We gotta make it big enough to get attention.

Just sent my letter expressing my support!

    "Dear Sir,

I see you’re on a list of 204 County Sheriffs that have publicly taken a stand in regards to the Second Amendment:

I want to take this time to express my feelings on your stand.

    Thank you!"

And about 10 minutes latter I got a reply!

Thank-you for your kind words. I will remain vigilant. Here is what I told the media and was quoted in the Goshen news:

"The US Constitution, Article I, Section 8, is clear what the Federal government should concern themselves in our nation. Gun control is not one of them. The issue of any gun laws should be the individual states. However, in that endeavor, the states are limited by their own constitutions. For example, The Indiana Constitution has a clear message in Article I, Section 32: “The people shall have a right to bear arms, for the defense of themselves and the State.” As a Sheriff who upholds his Oath of Office to support and defend the US and Indiana Constitutions, I will not be a part of enforcing any federal law or presidential order that is contrary to those Constitutions. As such, there are concerns from citizens of this county that there may be a gun confiscation, of which will not occur in this county while I am Sheriff. As for those seeking gun permits, the increased demand for gun permits are absolutely not a concern for this Sheriff. The more people who are carrying firearms for legal purposes, the more polite our society will be. I do encourage firearm owners to have the ability to keep firearms secure from children and burglars, and to receive appropriate training from civilian firearms trainers."

    Cochise County Arizona Too

Sheriff Dannels Issues Gun Control Policy Statement

To my Fellow Citizens of Cochise County and the United States of America,

Recently, I have spoken to several of my fellow citizens in Cochise County who have voiced to me their concerns and fears with the President’s recent decision to issue a number of executive orders aimed at gun control. Realizing the importance of this matter, I feel it is necessary to publish my official position on our Second Amendment rights, and what role I and my Office will have in this matter.

First, let me say, my heart goes out to the families and survivors of the tragic event in Connecticut, and to all those who may have lost loved ones in past violent acts. However, if history has taught us anything it is this; solely blaming firearms for acts of violence is not the answer. In my opinion, it amounts to nothing more than a play on emotions in an attempt to pacify the immediate outcry, and is a disservice to those we, as elected officials, are sworn to serve and protect.

As Sheriff, I was elected by the citizens of Cochise County to represent them and their interest. I and my Deputies shall not be used as a surrogate of any government entity to violate the civil rights of the citizens of this great Nation. My loyalty lies within the oath of the Sheriff’s Office, which reads, in part, as follows: “I solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the laws of the State of Arizona; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same and defend them against all enemies whatsoever, and that I will faithfully and impartially perform the duties of the office of Sheriff, according to the best of my ability so help me God.”

If I have learned anything during my twenty-nine years as a lawman, it is this; education, prevention, and enforcement are the three keys to successful crime prevention. We are a Nation of laws designed to protect our citizens, establish peace and order, and above all preserve the Constitutional liberties of all. With that said, no one person or branch of government can single handedly solve the complex issues of crime prevention. There must be a collaborative effort on the part of Law Enforcement and our Judicial, Educational, Medical, and Legislative partners to develop a comprehensive crime prevention strategy, which takes into account all of the contributing factors, not just the most convenient.

In closing, while I respect our Nation’s elected Offices, as the duly elected Sheriff for the citizens of Cochise County, I and my Office will ensure the Constitutional Rights of the citizens of Cochise County are not infringed upon and will not permit any official, federal or otherwise, to attempt to do so.

    Mark J. Dannels

    Sheriff, Cochise County

AuroraHawk Okie from Michigan via Alaska!

Alaska has Boroughs. Many of the cities in those boroughs have police departments but those agencies, other than the North Slope Borough, have far fewer powers than the county sheriff departments in the lower 48 states.

Most of the law enforcement duties fall upon Alaska State Troopers.

I've been trying to find the AST charter but haven't had any luck so I have no clue whether or not they are sworn to uphold the constitution.

I think I can see why some county sheriffs might be afraid of pledging to uphold the 2A. Our wonderful vice president, Crazy Joe Biden has his son firmly positioned as the Delaware Attorney General and his son has gladly accepted the responsibility of attempting to fire all county sheriffs and replace them with federal LEOs. This idea is not new and it is supported by many on capital hill.

Let's all talk to our county sheriffs and encourage them to take a step of courage and get on this list. We could also offer our support in the next election as an incentive. Your county sheriff is usually a very easy person to talk to in person.

Just because he isn't on the list doesn't mean anything. My sheriff isn't on the list either. When I called the Sheriff's office, they were like, "What list?"

There are only 3 deputies here. I'm sure the were omitted by accident.
