Well folks, I know that each of us are looking over our preps in the final days prior to our nation defaulting on our debt. This is certainly the wise thing to do--please continue to do so.

Most of us have excercised our rights by voting our elected officials into office. Many of us also feel that our elected officials are now owned by special interest groups and lobbyists. Why is this so? Because we have become a society of PASSIVE ACCEPTANCE.

Our elected officials are listening to the powerful special interest groups and lobbyist because WE have allowed our voices to be silent and unheard.

We must put a stop to this nonesense today. Please take a few moments today to call your congressmen and senators to remind them that they represent us, not the special interest groups.

Let them know where you stand on radical reductions to our federal goverment.

Let them know where you stand on corporate tax breaks to corporations who have not created jobs in the last two years.

Let them know where you stand on providing continued tax breaks and loopholes for the wealtiest of Americans.

Let them know where you stand on American corporations who have outsourced labor and continue to get corporate tax breaks.

Let them know where you stand on excessive social programs that contribute to the downfall of America.

Let them know where you stand on unbalance trade agreements that continue to steal jobs from Americans.

Here are the links to get your representatives numbers:

The United States House of Representatives · House.gov

U.S. Senate: Senators Home

When making your call, ask to speak to one of the staffers. You will most likely not be able to speak with your congressman or senator direct.

DO NOT allow your voice to be unheard. This is not a time to remain silent. If you do not make these calls, you are sending the signal that you WANT the special interest groups and lobbyist to be the ONLY voice heard.

This thread is not indended to have each of you voice your political concerns, do that by making your own phone calls. We in this forum are not the ones who need to hear your voice.

This is not a political party issue. This is an AMERICAN issue. It does not matter whether you align with Democrats, Republics, Independents, Libritarians, or Whips--think AMERICAN first. Don't be fooled by party politics.

Also, hearing comments that making calls will do no good unless you are willing to back up these statements by saying that you did make your own calls.

Now, stop the madness and passive acceptance and help light up the congressional switchboards.

Lastly, pass this on to your friends and family.

The clock is ticking folks. I do not want to have to break into my prepping plan because of the US defaulting on our loans and causing a global economic meltdown.

MAKE THOSE CALLS TODAY

We have made 1000's of calls, everytime they brought up another bill or nail in the coffin of this nation we along with thousands of others called, faxed and emailed until all lines were jammed.
An aid will answer if they are'nt running personal errands for the rep.Otherwise a recording.
While we were sitting on our complacent ass making calls, the radicals and deviants were in the streets protesting, being heard and getting their laws passed.
The last hope I had for this nation was when the Tea Party was formed.Of course the polititions and lobbies saw a hugh platform to benefit from. Now I no longer go to tea party meetings because they turned into campaines for liars and entertainers. If they throw out the Pauls and Palins I may go back, now they have a black man leadeing them.if hes a good man it does'nt matter but I have heard he was invovled in federal reserve ?Also hes a politition not grass roots.

Frugal,I'm glad your concerned enough to speak out but we have been doing this for years now.Every year it gets worse and we lose more freedoms and more laws are formed against us.

There are more americans from all races and backgrounds than there are socialist and welfare recipiants who vote in these dictators'including the so called coservatives liars'.But they refuse to face facts that they are about to lose all freedoms and livilhood their ancesters gave them.

If you're going to paint a picture of the situation use more colors than just black. I have been politically active when I thought it was useful and I have seen the fruits of those labors. My state has made better and better laws (SB1070 and right to carry laws). I am free'er now than I have ever been in my whole life! Things can get better if we dont give up and say all is lost.

One thing that we need to do is put more focus on local and state elections and laws. THAT is where change can actually occur -- and must occur. I am somewhat new to Arizona but it is one of the most freedom loving states in the Union. If you dont like the laws in your own state and dont see them ever changing then COME TO ARIZONA where you can actually carry a firearm concealed or not. I am stoked -- I was just given permission by HR to start carrying concealed ON THE JOB. In fact the HR lady said "I would be glad to know that you (and a few others) are carrying so I know whose desk to jump under if anything happens". THAT is a HUGE deal to me.

Arizona has made some good laws, but as you can see it has been an uphill battle. The feds have taken out a lot of the bite.Illegals have taken over your national forest and state parks near the border. They just burned up a nature preserve that will never recover, gone forever.
But you do ave a governer who is trying to fight them, more than any other state can claim.

All that may be true to some extent but we are not alone. Oklahoma, Georgia, Utah, and others are making strides. Sure its an uphill battle but nothing worth fighting for is easily obtained. As the OP states, get busy and stay on them... Im just saying to also focus on local and state levels.

I am proud of Arizona though... I feel I may live in the freest place in the world (no offense meant) -- that is something to be proud of!

Concur 100% that we make more impact at the State and Local level, but we are fixing to reach critical mass on the dect ceiling. Did you make your call today?

My house rep is a piece of dog squeeze and it would do no good to talk to him or his minions however I have already contacted both of my senators concerning this issue.

No and I'll tell you again, calls are not effective anymore,IMO.Go to town halls, commish and rep meetings.
Whats special about today?
Last time I checked our local and State governments are not making the call on the National debt ceiling. I agree that involvement at the local and state levels are important.

Sounds like you may have given up on even trying to let your voice be heard.

Here is a phone number you need to write down and keep handy 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).

You can call them to make your reservation for the Duval County concentration ( I mean FEMA) camp. They will be delighted to have youas a guest when we have a global economic meltdown and society crumbles around us. When you are sitting in your comfortable cot you can ask yourself why you didn't make that call.

You ask why today? If you haven't noticed the clock it ticking away until the 3rd of September. Then what?

Its not representative of everyone here... each state has its fair share of problems but Arizona has done a lot to further freedom to its citizens. I honestly dont know much about the situation in Quartzsite but I live in a town known for its left leaning tendancies and corruption.

There's a lot that I disagree with. Check this out:
RushLimbaugh.com Home
"The top 1% of income earners pay 39% of all personal income tax revenues.
The top 50% pay 97%."

The real problem is that the people who do most of the investing pay the most taxes.

The only "loopholes" in the tax system were created by congress to get companies to spend money in ways the government wanted them to spend money. Incentives were created to get oil companies to drill for oil in the US. Those incentives aren't loopholes.

America already has the highest corporate taxes in the world. Corporations shouldn't pay anything in taxes. Corporations pay dividends to their owners. Those dividends are taxed at a higher rate than wages. When corporations pay corporate taxes it's really double taxation. It's bad for economic growth. Taxes shouldn't be raised. Lower taxes create more economic activity and that leads to more tax money being collected.

All very good points but you should contact your reps and tell them those things. I dont agree with all of Frugals assumptions but it is true that we should be involved if we are informed.

Hey now that is a reliable source of information. They got ya believing exactly what they want you to believe. So where is the JOB CREATION for these tax breaks? Oh I forgot, they outsourced them so they could continue to pay their investors.
