Japanese Nuclear Meltdown Confirmed

Infowars.com

March 12, 2011

As we accurately reported earlier today, the explosion at the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan was the result of a nuclear meltdown of the reactor core at the facility.

The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) confirmed the meltdown Saturday afternoon. Fukushima is one of the 25 largest nuclear power stations in the world. The NISA is affiliated with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

High levels of cesium and iodine, by-products of nuclear fission, are being reported and providing more evidence that a nuclear meltdown is currently underway.

It is now certain Japan is experiencing a Chernobyl event. "At this point, events in Japan bear many similarities to the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. Reports indicate that up to 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) of the reactor fuel was exposed. The reactor fuel appears to have at least partially melted, and the subsequent explosion has shattered the walls and roof of the containment vessel - and likely the remaining useful parts of the control and coolant systems," Stratfor explains.

"Given the large quantity of irradiated nuclear fuel in the pool, the radioactivity release could be worse than the Chernobyl nuclear reactor catastrophe of 25 years ago," said Kevin Camps, a nuclear waste specialist.
Prior to the explosion of the containment structure, exposure rates outside the plant were at about 620 millirems per hour. Radiation exposure for the average individual is 620 millirems per year. Virtually any increase in ambient radiation can raise long-term cancer rates, and authorities distributed iodine, which helps protect against thyroid cancer, The Oregonian reports.

As the image above illustrates, the prevailing jet stream moves from Japan to the United States across the Pacific Ocean. Airborne radiation would work its way into the jet stream and reach the United States in less than 36 hours. Jet streams flow from west to east in the upper portion of the troposphere.
Bt downplaying this serious disaster, the Japanese government is not only endangering its own people, but also millions of people in the United States and Canada.

The cover-up by the Japanese government provides more evidence that government cannot be trusted to safeguard the lives of its citizens.

NOTHING in here constitutes a scare thread! Ostriches better get their heads out of the sand...

I've been a Civil Defense / FEMA radiation montioring technician for 40 years, and we take it damn serious! I'm monitoring background counts carefully at this moment... but I'm way at the other end up in Maine (with the perfect bunker, I might add)... - the western half of the US would get it first.

Additional credentials? -- Project engineer / manager in nuclear construction for 40 years
with radiation health physics training enough?

WATCH THIS DEVELOPMENT CAREFULLY

(I have kin in Germany, that's why I marked it in red for them too)

Projected scenario:

Fukushima 1

Block 1 (460 Megawatt) Containment compromised by explosion. Meltdown possible due to cooling system failure, desperte efforts to cool core with seawater and boron.

Block 2 (784 Megawatt) - Preparing to vent containment overpressure

Block 3 (784 Megawatt) - Containment compromised, failure to prevent containment overpressure. Meltdown possible due to cooling system failure, desperte efforts to cool core with seawater and boron. Possible explosion coming...

Fukushima 2

Block 1 (1100 Megawatt) - Preparing to vent containment overpressure

Block 2 (1100 Megawatt) - Preparing to vent containment overpressure

Block 3 (1100 Megawatt) - Core has been cooled and considered safe

Block 4 (1100 Megawatt) - Preparing to vent containment overpressure

The radiation map they call a hoax? - you can argue till the cows (don't) come home... -don't milk them for a while anyway, they'll be full of Strontium 90...

I'll get my ass kicked for posting this, but here goes... THIS IS REAL:

A government radiation background level chart in this event...

Just consider me a patriot for some "insider" information...
...just to wake you people up who are in denial that this is happening!

Blood rushing to your head yet? It better

Can you in layman's terms tell us what these levels mean in terms of exposure and potential dangers? Also, what precautions should be taken. I have the potassium iodide tablets but need some info on the level of exposure anticipated or encountered to determine whether they should be used.

BTW, I'm in the North East but just (barely) outside of that blue line.

Sorry for the delay, we were just straightening up the bunker and putting the HEPA filter on the air intake -- just for a worse case scenario if it came to it.
The young-uns, nieces and nephews would be going to go in for a while if the rates climb high!

The diagram? - Those are just some raised background levels up to 170 Bequerels per square meter... nothing to be alarmed about at all... YET -- it went up from 15 - 17 to 170 Bq/m2 before the nuke started leaking.

It's enough to just get a person thinking in the right direction of learning about fallout hazards.

Prepping is the key, and that's why we're all here, right? Having potassium Iodide tabs on hand is a smart move. I have some in my bunker too.

I hope this US Government would publish some elevated values openly on the net!

Evidently, they don't want people to worry or panic.... but then people wouldn't be motivated to prepare. Most think the Government can take care of everything WTSHTF....

I can't get to sleep as usual so I'm watching the news. The reactors are going up in smoke and the markets are going down in smoke. The Jap Gov is telling people to get in their houses and stay there. What houses? Hopefully the weather and wind direction hold out for them.

I've been having the same issue. My eyes have been glued to the news super late into the nights. Afterwards, I toss and turn in bed and think about the issues going on and what could happen in the future. I tried taking sleeping pills tonight to try and sleep...

They aren't working.

Nothing wrong with my eyes, it's more of a crushed nerve thing. Some radiation has reached Tokyo, but not to worry "it's not dangerous". No wonder they pulled back our ships today.
Japan's market closed down over 10% in a few hours and other markets following. Some guys think the US market could get shut down shortly after it opens.
