Popular Mechanics will be putting out a story on "unusual hurricane preparations" to consider. It will be out in July or August.

The author interviewed me via phone last Sunday. It gave me a thrill!

Good to know ... let us know when it is on the store-shelves so that we can also get the same copy!

I've now had two interviews on this article and I received a call last week checking the facts listed.

This article should be in the Sept edition.

When the next hurricane gets ready to hit, I'll be down at the local HomeDepot or some of the Supermarkets and will take a bunch of pictures of the sheeples going crazy trying to get the things they should already have. I'll post the pictures here so everyone can be entertained. :)

    Congrats on the interviews, Wildman!

I've noticed that since Walley World has changed their distribution systems, many more empty shelf spaces are evident.

I believe the next disaster that provides some warning, will see greater supply grabbing frenzies than what we've seen before. It used to be that there were approximately 3 days of supplies in any American city at any given time. I think that number has now been reduced to one or two days.

The Wally-W near us has less and less stock on the shelves. There seems to be only a couple of many items, and they've shrunk several departments. They've also discontinued a lot of things.

    Curious...

It must be from all of that economic recover the pres. was talking about on tv today:rolleyes:

I buy our soda at walmart it's about 1/2 price compaired to name brand and they never have enough. If I get 6 or 8 bottles of diet I empty the shelf. I noticed it with other things too.

Not to get more off-topic, but gypsysue & nj_m715 are both correct. Walmart's selection seems to have gotten very very small compared to what it used to be. I have also noticed that their milk prices are about 60 cents higher than surrounding stores.

I also overheard a Assistant manager just this week stating that he has a hard time getting chicken in and has to get it locally from Laudermilch's in Annville PA because Walmart's supplier can't keep up with the demand. He said that he actually loses about 12 cents per pound of chicken because he has to buy it at the local price and then turn around and mark it down to Walmart's national retail price.....

I didn't turn it up-right because it made the words so little that way.

Yes that's me. The article is alright but they didn't mention that 3 days without water is the limit. Unfdortunately, I was underway when they called me for both interviews and I wasn't entirely focused on this subject while trying to drive 2 large barges through the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway at those times.
