Is there any way to homestead when going off to college? The school is in a rural area of about 4,000 people.

You would probably be better off spending your free time learning the skills you will need if you intend to homestead. And you might consider what major you should pursue so that when you graduate you can have a career as well as a homestead.

It wouldn't hurt to start finding out cheaper ways to get things done especially since college and books are so expensive. You can never start to early. Plus you don't get to spend as much time making money because you are in class and studying, doing homework, partying, etc.
