I saw a post on the forum about a home made bore cleaner, and I can't find it now, when I want to try it. Can anyone remember it, if so please let me know where to find it.

41south, the post by mdprepper contains the formula for Ed's Red.

That is what I make and use. I do/did quite a bit of shotgun shooting, to me the hardest type to clean, and uses enormous amounts of cleaner. So started making Ed's Red and have continued using since. A lot cheaper than commercial cleaner.

I do make two batches one with and one without the acetone.

Here is the formula in mdprepper's link:

"Ed's Red (Can be found on an Internet search)
1 Quart K1 Kerosene The extra clean kind for indoor use.
1 Quart Mineral Spirits
1 Quart Dextron III automatic transmission fluid

Mix and store in a 1 Gallon Gas Can correctly labeled"

This omits the acetone - which can strip the finish off your wood stock.
