I'm retired and have been into this since mel tappen and the 80's. Ate my first Oregon freeze dried meal in RVN in 1970. Glad to be part of the group. I won't bore you all with what I used to do.

I'm from the UP. We talk like Canadians up there. We add "eh?" to sentences. Like, "Let's go, eh?" Another thing you hear is "ya" instead of "yes".

I have noticed a slight difference from the west to east though.EH v/s A.
The population base has gone way down, a lot of homes and property for sale. Some way out in no mans land. You can afford a house in town and a camp if your retirement is ok. AVG household income in area is about 22-24 thou per year. Best jobs of course are .gov jobs.

capt., yeah gotta be as old as I. Enjoyed Mel and still reread his dissertation on the Redhawk and 629 (actually the whole 29 series). Were you another reader of the magazine "Survive" where testers crossed the Rio Grande to test Cold Steel on live pigs and the 66 was the latest and greatest?

Yep survival/early mother earth, before yuppies,a info letter called the duck book. Anyway my tour in RVN kinda got me hooked on the info as I was a LRRP adviser for the 1st Arvn Div. Ate my first mountain house meal in 1970. And used a lot of ideas over the years in the field.

Thank you for your service. the short bio puts you well into what some friends now describe as an "operator". One friend has a small "SS"tattoo, another speaks Farsai attended a service academy DOP and went Recon, a third retired Major (2 tours Afghanistan, 2 tours Iraq), the last a Special Agent DOJ AG). They all shoot well. d
