Hi this is Egon.

I live on a beautiful 360 acres community in the back hills of NW Arkansas. It has everything: water, animals, shops, good soil, lots of tools, but we could use a few more folks to get ready for . . . whatever is coming.

The current steward of the land has a web site that explains things pretty well:

land in Ozarks,natural beef

Looks like a good plan as long as you get good people

Sounds a little TOO perfect. There has to be a catch. Something is wrong somewhere. No place is that perfect lol

Also, this is a strange way to join a forum. Sounds more like an advertizment. And if you say you live there why does your location say St. Louis? Doesn't add up. Sounds fishy to me.

I'd have to agree that it does sound nearly perfect... but as already stated... maybe too perfect. What's the catch?

In reading the site I noticed multiple references to "... do what you want as long as it doesn't bother your neighbors..."

Well, what if something I do does bother them? If I have actually bought my lot and I'm following the state/local laws it doesn't really matter if it bothers them... or is there something else here that isn't being said?

It is just me, or do you also hear the theme song from "Jaws" playing in the background?

Not sure about the rules part, haha. My farm seems to be ruling over us and making impossible demands. But we are older now too.

Today its 105 on my porch already.I made some borders, covered them with pine straw and dug some this morning,my face was pouring water and the rest of me was soaked. The smoke from the fires did'nt help with the breathing. And I almost tore the 24 ft.bus off its frame trying to pull up a tree that I had dug out around.

Then these people are talking about goign up on property tax when the property values took a dive.

That place may not be such a bad idea if you think about it.Then again too many chiefs and not enough indians may be a problem in the long run.

Oh, i actually live in there p/t. I have a job and family in other places. the idea is, some people live there full time, and others, only when they need to. Say like WTSHTF...right?

And , in a way this is an ad. See, Mike, the steward is having trouble keeping things rolling. And I want to have more like mined folk here so that I can feel more secure. So I came down a few months ago and have been helping out in any way I can. I am a computer specialist, so we fixed up the web site . . .ran some google ads...worked up the three potentially communal garden spaces . . .fixed up an old building. . . etc.

and yeah, it sounds too good, and there are faults, like, for example the great number of tick critters that grab onto you when you go for a walk in the fields and you have to strip before going inside so they . . but only in the summer.

but other than that . . it is a great situation...and I do know Mike won't let just anyone come . .we want people who want to contribute . . to make it better.

I keep waiting for the single "old" lady who wants folks to come and make a commune on her land but has to live by her rules... come to find out she has been posting this same line for years now and no takers.. and get this-she is just turning 60 and thinks she is old and feeble...
I will not drink the koolaid...;)

True to a point, I little more than an animal waitess ... :D

But in my free time, if I want to dance under a full moon with a bon fire ... I don't have to worry about ticking off the folks next door. ;)
