I've been lurking here on and off for months and finally decided to join.

My husband and I have been "prepping" for about two years now. I'm a Home Canner and Dehydrator and last year we spent about 6 months building our raised bed garden. We are in our second growing season and things are starting to come in nicely, although very slowly, much slower than the seed packets say. Most everything we are growing is Heirloom and we are testing multiple varieties of each plant to see which ones grow best for us. Once we narrow down the playing field I will venture in to seed saving. I have some lettuce and a few herbs that have bolted on me already so I'm letting them go all the way to watch the process. Gardening in Florida definitely has it's challenges, as we are finding out, usually the hard way, but at least we are learning and producing. Hopefully we'll get some chickens before the bottom falls out.

I'm looking forward to learning some new things from this group and sharing a few things I've learned along the way.
