I am NOT thinking of replacing my FoodSaver but for those times of no electricity would the Pump and Seal be a viable alternative? Also, I'm thinking that vacuum storing in gallon jars would be a huge space saver at times. Do you have any experience/thoughts on using one of these? :dunno:

Pump and Seal food saver vacuum sealer is better than Tilia FoodSaver

I had one for a long time and while it does work better than the little ziplock hand held pump- I ran out of the little self stick tabs and at the time could not find more- so I think I gave it away. But if I ever find it Thanks for the link to getting more of the little tabs.

You can get a hand pump brake bleeder from harbor freight for about $20 when it's on sale. It will work for mason jars with the lid adapter or put your mason jar into a larger vacuum container and evacuate the container.
