This a yes and no problem. No we don't want foreign or illegal aliens to be allowed to stay in our country. No we do not want to short change the farmers needing labor workers. Answer- work requirement for welfare and labor pools. No work - no eat. A great motivator.

Farm Lobby Pushes Amnesty for Low Skilled Visa Over-stays

by JOHN BINDER11 Jul 2017Raleigh, NC

Since President Donald Trump's inauguration, the farm lobby has demanded access to cheaper, foreign workers through the H-2A visa program.
The lobby is looking to push a new initiative: amnesty for low-skilled farm workers who overstayed their H-2A visas.

In a report by the Norwalk Reflector, the farming lobby in North Carolina, one of the largest farming states in the U.S., revealed their plans to not only request looser H-2A visa laws, but also a path to legal status for illegal immigrants who are farm workers:

In February, Larry Wooten, president of the N.C. Farm Bureau, and a group of farmers met with Tillis, Sen. Richard Burr, Rep. George Holding, Rep. David Rouzer, Rep. Ted Budd and Rep. Mark Meadows, all Republicans, to discuss immigration reform, simplifying the H-2A program and determining an avenue to legal status for undocumented farm workers.

Wooten describes immigration reform as a "three-legged stool": the first leg represents border security to ensure "we know who's in the country" and the second leg involves developing an H-2A program that supplies dependable labor year-round.

"The third leg is where the wheel runs off and the divergence starts: What do you do with illegal immigrants?" Wooten said. "It's a tremendous cost to the economy because this immigration issue is not resolved."

Every year, a limitless number of low-skilled foreign nationals are allowed to enter the U.S. on the H-2A visa.

Thus far, the American Farm Bureau Federation, which demands that American farming jobs continue to be outsourced to foreign workers, has been able to have more than just Trump's ear on the issue.

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall said most recently that Trump promised to keep the H-2A foreign guest worker visa program, as Breitbart Texas reported.

"He assured us we would have plenty of access to workers," Duvall said.

The American Farm Bureau Federation has also been able to penetrate the Trump administration, with a former pro-outsourcing lobbyist for the organization landing a top job in Trump's Agriculture Department, as Breitbart Texas reported.

Kristi Boswell serves as the Senior Advisor to Agriculture Secretary-nominee Sonny Perdue, working primarily on immigration and labor issues. Boswell's appointment to work on immigration and labor issues for the Agriculture Department put immigration patriots like David North from the Center for Immigration Studies on defense.

"Her appointment is bad news for anyone wanting to contain the growth of the H-2A (foreign farm worker) program, which was loosely enough administered by Obama's Department of Labor," North wrote at the time. "There were 283,500 admissions (though there is some double counting) of H-2A workers in 2015, the last year for which we have data."

Workfare.....is it actually working?

Some states have, at least partially, begun the "Workfare Program." And welfare/food stamp rolls HAVE dropped to lower levels in those states. What I'd like to see are some statistics comparing employment figures before and after the implementation of the programs. Are they all actually "going to work," or are many joining the ranks of the thugs and dope dealers? And how many are MOVING to some state that does NOT have "workfare" requirements? :scratch

Wish you luck, I don't think even the Wizard is going to be able to find those stats. Liberals will kill to keep them buried.

Not for nothing but i just finished a 48x156 pad for a local farm and apple orchard. He has Jamaicans do all his picking and work. Great group of guys. They come for the summer and go home in the winter. I can count on one hand all the Americans that i personally know that can work like these guys. The farmers has to hire any American that applies for the job, not one ever has lasted more than a week. You want illegals to not come here and work, fine then maybe teach your kids a good work ethic! (That's not directed to anyone here) the majority of America is lazy!

Got no problem with the legal immigrants working on the farms and in the orchards....it's the illegals that need to go!! Americans doing that kind of work? Not a chance!! The last, what, 3-4 generations, cry like a baby if they can't pull down some 9-5, sit-on-yer-azz, office job...ain't NO WAY they're getting out in a field and picking lettuce, or plucking fruit off the trees in an orchard!!

It is not about legal help that comes works goes back home. It is about illegals or overstays that work a few months, bring in their large families who get welfare and never go back home.

I do see what your saying but we have plenty of lazy ass immigrants too who only worked till the family gets welfare then they quit and the whole family gets to live free and most of them are lazy as any American.

We need to cut out all welfare and you'll see Americans work then. Those who don't go to jail will work.:)

Ah, but you forget, hunger is a great motivator. Once the freebies end, they will start to develop good work ethics. Amazing how a growling stomach will improve your interest in finding work.

You got it! We are old and we still work in the heat, cold even rain sometimes.

It is called motivational training. :D Thats what koolie hats are for. Mine is an old straw hat.
One of my nieces were here and she was helping me dig and pull weeds while texting. I told put the phone up she laughed and put it up.

My grandson [ the caboose youngest ws 11 at the time] was told to take a bath and he wanted to keep playing games on phone. I told him to do as he was told he pulled away so i just reminded him who he was with and ask if he wanted the electronics to take a shower with him or did he want to take them off first. he took them off and took the bath.

I never told my kids more than twice to do something then I was in action and somebody was going to get some strips from a switch. Now you will go to jail.
I told my daughter to bring a cage for the 2 great grands and I'd keep em for a couple weeks, JK.:D She is about to have a nervous breakdown with those two boys and menapause:surrender:.
My granddaughter is in prison for next 20 or 30 years where she insisted on going and it really hurts us but what in the heck can you do. Raised in a good home but peer pressure and hard heads bad combination. :(

They always get religion in jail and lose it once back out.:scratch

Your right on all accounts. It's fun to see how many people feel the same way and see it thr same way yet our representatives do nothing to fix it and the majority of morons call us racist for feeling this way.

When you don't have a credible response, you have to resort to name calling. There is no logic to allowing illegal immigrants to stay. But they can't debate this point, so they have to call you racist, as if that validates their view. Weak minds and poor vocabularies and a lack of logic.
