The European Union's ban on herbal medications is going into effect by this April, 2011. What this means is unless an herbal product, produced for medical treatment, has been tested and paid licensing fees, that product will be pulled from the shelves and banned for sale to the public.

Herbal remedy companies have had seven years to comply with this act. Regardless, many will continue to produce their products, just for the underground market claims some herbal health advocates.

Herbal remedies have been around for as long as there have been people. Herbal teas, infusions and tinctures are staples in many cultures for treating a variety of health issues. However, some have been concerned that these herbal remedies vary and may be dangerous as they are not regulated.

The EU are all set to launch a Ban on common garden herbs and plants making them illegal presumably with penalties for growing, possessing and selling these natural plants. This includes all Chinese herbs, all Indian herbs, all Western herbs. The list runs into the hundreds of herbs banned in the E.U.

15 April 2010)– From April 2011, European legislation (EC Directive 2004/24/EC) which has already been passed in 2004 will come into force which will effectively mean that ALL Herbal medicines will disappear from the shelves in our High Streets or internet shops within the EU. Freedom of choice in medicine is being taken away. You will only have access to treatments which are Pharmaceutical Drugs based in order to treat your own and your families ailments. No Chinese herbs, No Ayurvedic (Indian) herbs, No Western herbs, NO MEDICINAL HERBS WHATSOEVER. Chinese medicine practitioners will lose access to the majority of the herbs and medicines on which they rely. Consumers will NOT be able to buy any Chinese herbal products within the EU.

This can definitely happen in America. Anybody want to start a grassroots effort and send herbs to Europe? :)
I'm sure America is already in the works to ban the use
of herbal remedies. After all, the pharmacy companies aren't making money.

The E.U is about 27 European countries, right? There's:

Austria
Belgium
Bulgaria
Cyprus
Czech Republic
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Hungary
Ireland
Italy
Latvia
Lithuania
Luxembourg
Malta
Netherlands
Poland
Portugal
Romania
Slovakia
Slovenia
Spain
Sweden
United Kingdom

And there are several candidate countries as well.

So, out of 196 countries in the world (The most recent country being South Sudan), at least 27 of them will be without herbal remedies through the E.U. . .

Interesting turn of events. The Netherlands have been selling herb seeds to the US and sneak mailing them in. Now it will be them buying herb seeds from the US and us discreetly mailing them to them!

Back on topic… That is a big pile of fresh road apples is what it is! The EU will sell you one of the most addictive and toxic ‘herbs’ know to man (store bought cigarettes) but not a tea to make you feel better or help to relax. It is nearing time to join those in the streets and put a stop to all this nonsense.
