I saw a tv show about a man who claims to be Jesus. he does not seem to "preach" about the the things we were brought up on. he believes that if you kill the only consequence is that you go to jail. God will not mind. his followers also mark them selves. the mark is 666. I am not a big bible reader but I do believe. what I remember from my youth, was that a false prophet would come and his make would be that of the beast. Do I remember that correctly? the show was on Prime Time along with a part about cloistered nuns.

Nah, it's cool. I went to a bar the other night, and they stamped the same number on your hand. Although, come to think of it, I did have to sacrifice a baby goat and drink it's blood to get inside.... but that's normal, right? And shouldn't this stamp have washed off by now? Huh. Weird.:scratch

(Rev 13:11-18 NIV) Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon. {12} He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. {13} And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. {14} Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. {15} He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. {16} He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, {17} so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. {18} This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666.

Mark of the beast

I wouldn't be too worried about that guy because he sounds like a complete nut. Scripture tells us quite a bit about the anti-Christ and if a man is too accomplish everything that scripture says he will accomplish it would be a man that everyone believed to be a saint. (kind of like the way everyone followed Hitler because they truly believed him to be a hero)

What I am more worried about is the idea I have heard lately of everyone getting rid of credit cards and having a device implanted under their skin that could be scanned like a credit card. There are a lot of very logical benefits to a device like that so I think it is a real possibility. That device could also very easily make it impossible for anyone refusing to get the "mark of the beast" to function in normal society.

The other reason which I am totally not worried about that guy, is that I have already narrowed down the list of potential anti-Christs down to two people:

1) Oprah

or

2) Martha Stewart

Although, Michael Buble is creeping up on my list. I really don't like that guy.

The Amish or Mennonites--I live with both here in Ky---won their argument in court.
They refused to have their stock marked by the feds for id purposes and explained how their stock could easily be tracked..and it was against their religion...case closed!!!

And Turtle--it's a girl thing!!! His songs are sooo...never mind.

K, so to start, I'm not religious at all. I'm agnostic. This said, I was raised catholic, and at one point planned on going into the seminary. I've done a good bit of digging around in different religions.

This quote (to me) is often misinterpreted as people having this "666" plastered to their forehead or hand. Even to the point that an old (and ignorant) chain letter was passed around when the WWW first came about (the argument being that a W looks like a VI, and that your reflection in your monitor would show the WWW on your forehead. The mouse was the link to a hand. Yeah, I know, hell of a stretch, but I didn't write the chain letter...) This is also why this nutter is marking himself up with the 666.

While there's a lot of hoopla about 666, recent studies of the original documents have determined that the "real" number of the beast is in fact 616. Due to the quality of the original documents and a mistranslation, all English translations of the beast's number are thought to be 666 which is in fact incorrect.

However, I believe ALL of this to be an utterly moot point. IF we believe that revelations was more than the ramblings of a drunkard, and IF we believe it to be actual prophecy, then I think what we need to focus on is not the number for the beast but rather the wording of the rest of that particular section.

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark..." We are already moving in this direction with the removal of cash from the system as we go into a digital monetary system. Already the government is "suggesting" that children get microchipped "to make them easier to find."

Let's first talk about how microchipping works. The microchip is VERY simple. It's a series of metallic panels placed next to each other made of different kinds of metal. When hit with a radio wave, depending on which metals are touching each other, you get a resonating signal back. For instance, zinc on copper will return a different frequency than zinc on tin. By staggering the metals in layers, each chip "resonates" back a unique number. No different than your social security number, the chip in your hand holds your unique ID in a number, and nothing more.

The computers are then hooked up to a large database, and when the number is scanned, it's matched up to your records online and THOSE records are what determines how much money you have in your account, what your medical records say, etc. This data, and this is very important, this data IS NOT STORED in the microchip. The microchip is ONLY a number. A unique identifier. It's the exact same system that is used for microchipping pets. I should know, I've inserted over 6000 of them in my lifetime (91T - Animal Care Specialist / Medical Research in the army).

Now, let's go back to the scriptures:

"...so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name..."

This particular phrase is very, very important in how it's interpreted. Mostly because scholars can't seem to agree in the way "his" is used. Is "his" referring to the number of the beast's name (616) or the name of the beast specifically? It's actually quite unlikely. I personally believe that if there's ANY truth to this "prophecy" at all, the interpretation should read like this:

"...so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which [comes from] the beast and bears his [the person's] name or the number of his name..."

Read into the original interpretation and the original scriptures and you'll find that this could just as easily be the original meaning. However, the interpretations throughout the *entirety* of the bible have been skewed over the reinterpretations of interpretations of interpretations into English over the years.

If there ever was a "mark of the beast" and if there truly is any truth to the prophecy, microchipping, having "the number of your name" implanted in your hand in order to be able to purchase goods is that mark.

Even as an agnostic, neither my children, nor myself will ever be chipped. That one just seems a little TOO obvious. Better to be safe than sorry... :)

Yes, if something goes wrong, the feds can, in just a few hours, find out where that cow came from, who owned the farm, find its parents, when it was sold at auction.....so maybe we just need to give each illegal mexican a cow. That way we can keep up with them. So, seriously, if they can find a cow this easy, they could be rounding up these mexicans if they really wanted to.

Yes, and the name of the computer system that runs all those microchips is actually called "The Beast", look it up if you don't believe me. Even heard it on the news the other day too.

There are other interesting things about the Anti-Christ from that same chapter:
(Rev 13:1-8 NIV) And the dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. {2} The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. {3} One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was astonished and followed the beast. {4} Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, "Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?" {5} The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months. {6} He opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. {7} He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. {8} All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast--all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.

It seems odd that Obama left Mexico City and swine flu followed him home. He clearly wasn't wearing his wedding ring or his watch during Ramadan, in which time Muslims are forbidden to wear jewelry. I hear that the next biological/viral problem will require mandatory vaccinations. I hear that a free microchip will come with that vaccination. It goes in your right hand because your vein pattern is unique. It also tunes with your heart rhythm. That way, if somebody cuts your hand off, the chip stops functioning. I guess the part about the forehead is for people that don't have right hands. Said this chip was smaller than a pencil point dot on a piece of paper. Jesus came to set men free. So, the ones that want to control everyone, who do they work for?

It is my understanding that by 2013 no one will be able to obtain medical care or health insurance without this chip. It is in Obama's health care plan. Guess I will have to stay healthy.
