Youngstown News, Ohio town of 3,200 evacuated because of gas fires My DH said he heard on the news that 6 houses have caught fire so far. All of the schools in my county are closed today because of the bitter cold. This serves as a reminder that we need to be able to evacuate even in the bitter cold!
What's the word on this today? Have the people been let back home, or, are they still being told to stay away?
My DH says they let people back but he is not sure if they have turned the gas back on because they wanted to make sure everything was ok.

Some pretty big mess in that. There was the case of the four foot (?) gas line that went Chernobyl this past summer (West Coast?) as well. Besides our looming economic problems, the near crippling disrepair of our infrastructure is really really worrisome. All the more reason to grow your own energy wherever possible.
