No. I Dont have any land. I designed a shipping container shelter for my friends property and end of summer we hope to have all we need for the build. I save all the left over materials from my jobs which has been very helpful. It will have three rooms and a modest bathroom. We got the containers from another friend who had them rusting away on his property for pennies on the dollar for what they are worth.
I was a structural welder so that works out good for this project. We will start by sand blasting any rust and spray them with a rubberized house foundation coating then dig the ground up and bury them. We dig the entrance side extra wide and place steal beams across the top of the hole. then concrete block the entrance, build a staircase to the door. Pour concrete across the entire top and bury that with dirt. The only things showing are what look like a watershed concrete block fire doored entrance and some well hidden filtrated air and exhaust system pipes. (continued I)

(continued II)After thats built, and if it gets ugly out here; that will be my first stop. The property is outside the city in the next town over. I'll spend as little time as possible there. My friend has a wife and 12 year old daughter. I know that it would not be the most accommodating place for me the third wheel so to speak. So, after a short period there when things appear safe enough I will head out in search of a good place to try and start over. I have a chevy van which holds alot. When the roads become impassable I'll pull out my 4x4 ATV from the van lol.
I'm of the thinking that because we dont truly know where the things to come will happen I don't completely feel good about putting my eggs in one basket. I dont want to prep a stationary place with food and stores to have it end up being ground zero to what ever happens, you know? Oh yeah.. I wouldn't think your paranoid, (thats just a enhanced state of awareness.)..:)

I agree with you that people will go nuts in cities. I wish I was farther away from Houston, but I need a job to support my three and myself. Plus, this place is not paid off yet. Still, I purposely bought on a dead end road and I purposely keep my place "modest". I don't want to attract too much attention. Not to give you the wrong idea--I am not paranoid. LOL

What do you mean that you plan to travel light? Does that mean a car or suv or camper? Do you have property somewhere? Hope you have a good day. Esther

Where are you located? Are you prepping to stay put or are you planning to bug out?
