Default Riot saftey

The title seems strange but there is a reason for it. Alot of so called riots in recent years were started by a "provacatuer" A provacatuer is someone working within a crowd that is used to taunt or otherwise destroy property. It has been used throught time, and it has been admitted by several police depts. in the united states. Basically it's the one guy that goes around breaking windows and throwing things at cops in an otherwise peaceful meeting. The reason is that when fil crews catch this they can say, "look at the evil protesters"! and this makes people want to hide instead of excersizing thier first ammendment rights. My advice is that if you are in an area like this, you typically don't have to fear other people, they are probably trying to keep away from the pepper spray and clubs. Don't let yourself be isolated, dark alleys etc. This is a bad idea anyway, and like the other poster said, try to get away in a quick orderly fashion. Another thing that helps if you are at a protest is to get with the organizers and try to get as many people as you can to carry cameras and camcorders. People think twice before doing certain things on tape. Most of all, remain calm, and don't condone violence. People can get crazy when they are scared, this includes cops. Hope this helps, don't stop speaking out, and stay safe.

My "Riot Avoidance Tactics" are the same for "Nuclear War Survival", The greater distance that I am from ground zero, the better my chances for survival are!!

the best advice i can give is to mount a nice machine gun to the bed of your truck have someone drive while you shoot.
no really, i doubt you will be at the store or some place and a true riot would break out without you knowing it or having at least some kind of heads up.
if you can avoid the whole thing, avoid it.

First....... I would try and avoid being in any place that would expose me to such a situation. If I was there when it started I would be making tracks in the opposite direction ASAP.

Second.........I would avoid ANYTHING that involved the word POLICE. While I don't have anything in particular against law enforcement in general my experisense tells me that in the case of a riot or similar situation they tend to react to everyone they encounter in a way that neither benfits my welfare, health or my freedom. They tend in those events to "Arrest Everyone" and sort them out later. No thanks to that. I would prefer to batten down the hatches on my property where I can better control who comes and goes and defend me and mine.

Is a mass panic considered a riot?

Not really, but when the effect is the same (disregard for public order/authority), the authorities will respond with riot protocols.

Can't situations right after severe natural disasters be like riots with severe crime, an example would be New Orleans after flooding from the hurricane... It would suck to be there

I'd say have an I.Q. higher than fried rice, and get out of the bunch before it reached 'Critical Mass'...
But that is the 'Farm Boy' approach, so it might be too simple for some people to understand!
