We hold hands and/or have older kids hold the hands of younger kids. We also try and drop off children and spouses as the curb and then go park versus parking and have everyone walk. We don't load or unload the car until everyone under the age of 14 is in the car and buckled up. More importantly (to me) we don't take the kids with unless needed. Most shopping trips are my wife and 1-2 of our oldest, just her, just me or just me and my oldest son. I hate dragging along extra people just for the sake of it and consider that to be an unnecessary risk. When one parent goes shopping the other usually heads to the park or some other activity. It's hard to get us all in one vehicle anyway.
