Default Let's Barter!

We've discussed at length all the different things we might use as barter goods in a SHTF situation. I propose we start a virtual barter network. Offer for trade, whatever you have stocked up on, be it silver or gold coins, food, fuel, ammo, tools etc.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a couple tanks of diesel fuel. I am offering 5 gallons of fuel. When the harvest comes in, how much wheat will you trade me for that 5 gallons of fuel? Yeah, I'm going to trust you to come through with your end of the deal when the time comes.

Great idea. I don't have wheat to trade but I like the idea.

That was just a way to get things started.

Do you need fuel? What do you have to trade for it?

I have surplus water and lots of split dried wood? Might need an advance on that fuel to deliver a cord. *insert big toothy grin* Hmm a little silver and gold if you are into that kinda thing.

Nice exercise! Congrats.

I'm good for water. Wood? Always good to have extra wood. 5gal seems a tad steep for a cord. I might consider 2gal for a cord of mixed hardwoods a reasonable trade. No need to deliver. I can pick it up.

Always a good option and one of the things I'm trying to figure out with this little exercise.
Would you consider, lets say... $3.00 face value in silver coin a fair trade for 5gal of fuel?

I could use a few gallons of fuel, not interested in the silver though. No wheat planted but I do have herbs. I’ll do one quart of dried herb per gallon. I have anise hyssop, mullein flowers - also have then in tincture and oil, rosemary, St John’s Wort, Motherwort, Valerian, Skullcap, sage and some others. Anything you interested in, medicinal, tea or otherwise? So 5 quarts of dried herbs for 5 gallons of diesel.

<<is this an exercise with a post SHTF mindset (SHTF happened today), using what we have in preps now as barter, or our current circumstances? ie transposrtation systems and utilities are still up, govt is (dis)functioning >>
