Default Home Defense Shotgun

I picked up my shotgun from Tactical Ordinance where I was having work done on it. It now resides in the new gun room of my home along with a large box of Swiss Army surplus 2 3/4" 16 pellet HOT loads. I've also got some Remington 2 3/4" magnum shells at the ready.

I had the shotgun made specifically for use in our town home complex and of course to comply with all the Canadian laws regarding use and transportation of firearms. Many guns were not suitable for home defense for legal reasons. This one made the grade in all areas so now it's mine.

This started off as a used 14" Police Magnum "retired" from an Ontario police armory which was taken apart and parkerized.

Then the following parts were added:

Recoil Damping Tactical Stock.
Mesa Shell Holder.
Ghost Rings.
Stainless Magazine Follower.
Vang Comp +1 Magazine extension.
Vang Comp System.
The light was already on the gun when purchased.

Casey at Tactical Ordinance did a great job and completed the work in a prompt and professional manner. I can only describe the service I received as excellent. I'd highly recommend Tactical Ordinance to anyone looking to have modifications made to their 870.

Here's the Mesa shell holder.

The light and magazine extension.

The Vang Comp system.

I'll post pics as I add to the collection. The handgun will be the next one to arrive. I decided to wait on the handgun because of the incredibly long waiting period.

I couldn't post all the images in the last post so here are the rest.

Stainless magazine follower.

Here's a picture of the completed gun.

The sliding recoil damping stock.

I'll be adding a two point tactical sling and then it'll be complete. I have not taken it to the range as I've been way too busy with work. I'll let you know how it works after the first session.

Forget the handgun, that evil eye would make me turn and run like hell if it cornered me. The shotgun might work to make me run faster. Nice setup!

Thanks. I like the setup a lot. The length is great and it maneuvers around corners just great. My wife likes the adjustable stock and the light. I have to say the light is probably my favorite thing on it. Once I add a sling it'll be even better.

We'll have a handgun and a carbine in 9mm on the way for my wife. Although she can shoot the shotgun the 9mm carbine is ideal for her. She gets a lot of muzzle flip with the handguns. After that we'll be getting a short semi auto shotgun.

This way we can keep our ammo selection down to two types and the ammo is inexpensive enough for us to get some good range time in practicing.

I opted for hand gun over shot gun........experiment.... My wife could not turn around in the hallway in drills we did for the what if sceniario...........being a timed event in the hallway, as reaction time is critical.......frustrated,and nerves at this olimpic timed event got the better of her.....i had no problems.
Nice work(pics) she opted for the clock.

I have a 9mm on the way. I just have to get some paperwork done first. The wife will prefer the 9mm. A 9mm carbine in on the way afterwards for her.

I'm looking at a Beretta Storm 9mm so I can share mags with the PX4 9mm Beretta handgun that's on the way. Makes things easier if one of us runs low on ammo.

Sgt Doug - You might consider a Taurus Judge. It's a revolver that will shoot both 45 and a 410 shotgun shell. Load it how you wish.
