Hi guys. I wanted to post this link about preparing for emergencies for diabetics.
Now, I know they we all "get it" here, but I thought maybe you could spread the link to the DNGI's in your circle of friends and family. Because we all know we have them;)

Preparing for an Emergency

I just found the site after surfing the tv the other evening. I caught the program and then went to the site. LOTS of info, recipes ( which I plan on trying lol) and help.

Any tips for bad kidneys?

Ok, so just found out my kidneys are, and I quote the doctor here: "Hanging by a thread."

It comes from medication I was on (flexeril, darvocet, ultram, and etodolac; since kicked-save the ultram, he wants me on that for pain, but I dont ever take it! :D) to help with a FUBAR back and left shoulder (let's just say I'm accident prone), and it causes kidney failure. I'm not there YET, but it seems to be tilting that way.

My question is, any tips to help keep what little bit of fucntion I've got left? I AM seeing a doctor, I'm just also asking for tips to help out along the way, to sort of supplemnt what the doc tells me. ANYTHING to keep my kidney function!

Also, is there ANY way to ease the pain or help with fatigue?

---

I'm also not going to be on quite as much as I was right after I joined...

Newly diagnosed Diabetic

I was recently diagnosed as pre-diabetic, but to me thats like saying someone is a little pregnant:rolleyes:

I was recently diagnosed as pre-diabetic, but to me thats like saying someone is a little pregnant:rolleyes:
Right now I'm in the test test test phase. I'm watching portion size and checking carbs and then testing to see what, in my normal way of eating sets off my numbers.
Now this is something else I have to prep for. I'm on a medication for this so now I need to start the process of stockpiling it like I did for some of my other meds.
I also need to get extra batteries and strips for the tester and pack them away ( rotate of course).

I tell ya, sometimes I just wanna :surrender:

But, I'm too much a "female dog" to do that.:D I'm going out kicking and screaming.;)

So, now I'm thinking, that all the pasta that we like, that I've stocked, may no t be want I need to stock.
But then I'm thinking, but if shtf, I'll definitely be doing more physical work so I'll be burning the sugars off, so maybe I can still keep the pastas.

Being new to this I'm still confused about things.

I'm wondering who else on here is doing battle with diabetes and how exactly they're prepping knowing this.
I'll take any hints and suggestions.

when I think of the 100's of pounds of sugar I have......

I have just finished reading a book a friend suggest I read. It changed his life. The book was refered to him by a pretty fit and able 90 year old chap who rang him late one evening and told him of it. The old chap said he has changed his life! :)
The book doesn't sell anything but gives knowledge of the health system as well as basic dietary problems most of us have (without knowing it.)
Its THE CHINA STUDY by T.Colin Campbell PhD.
The book was published in 2004 & the blerb says that it's "the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted"
If there is one book I will recommend to friends and family, it's this one.
Many of us have learnt about the fiat money system and Fractional Reserve Banking, and the pain that all that has created to folks all around the Western world in particular, but this will knock your socks off with equal concern.
Maybe Im a bit slow to getting to this point (Im in my 50's, not over weight and reasonably fit) but it has information that will assist most of us (if not 99.9% of us)
I got this copy out of the public library but will be buying it to help hammer home some facts to my kids. Dad aint gonna be popular again(!!!!) with his 'wacko' type views on this subject also. :D

Have a good one.
I promise you wont regret taking the time to read this.

Any suggestions? I haven't had one in YEARS-until now  I started having very mild symptoms on Monday and tonight I'm starting to throw protein in my urine-no pain yet but I'm sure that's on its way. I hate cranberry but I'll do it if I have to. I really need to avoid antibiotics. I'm still nursing my daughter and antibiotics=thrush=misery for me. What else can I use to knock this thing out before it gets worse?

I am hesitant to use the Fluoride recommended for my children ages 2 - 6. I occasionally give them the vitamins and let the older two brush with fluoride toothpaste as long as they spit carefully. Now one has a cavity and my Mother of the Year award is eroding away. Do you all know of any natural alternatives? I hate to think of them with tooth problems, but I'm afraid fluoride problems are worse. I hoped good nutrition and good brushing would be enough.
