*OK, <a...

OK, so the economy sucks...but it is not dead yet!

There are still legitimate opportunities for self employment. Not everyone can do it...because it takes a special kind of person to own their own destiny and not depend on the government. So if you are a government lackey (seriously doubt that if you are in this forum) then stop reading now.

Otherwise...you should check out this opportunity...I sell health. No...not health insurance...products for health...it's called Isagenix. The products supply Comprehensive Nutrition. And they are lightweight and portable for survival nutrition.

I intend to begin selling these products myself in an online store...with other goodies like Mountain House Freeze Dried Products...and survival accessories...

But I do not have a corner on the market of Isagenix products. The introduction to Isagenix is for personal health and wealth...but the product has great survival nutrition possibilities.

Are you jobless? Or stuck in a job that is not going anywhere? Please take a look at this opportunity to WORK...for yourself. Self-Employment, Be an Entrepreneur. For God's sake do something to help your self and this economy. Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps and make your own way.

I am right there with you when SHTF...but we have some work to do while we still have time.

I am new to this site. Retired 20 yrs USAF, garden a lot, can our own vegetable, meats, etc. Farmers in my family, last assignment in late 1980's ran bks at Vandenberg AFB, Ca. and also was in charge of the garden plots for MWR on Vandenberg. Been heavy gardening for about 36 years, a young-un' to many of you.
As evidenced by the new Colony TV show, Security is paramount over everything. Without security you might as well put everything you own in the front yard.
Being this forum is about Water, I would like to put a suggestion forward from some expierance. In an area that has good aquafer and water soaked soil below the surface at a pretty shallow depth I am looking at a seep well. Our house is on a hill and we do have seepage of water from the hillside near our property and on others properties near us.
A former property I owned years ago, had a 6" casing pounded down to about 220 feet. We shut her down because of the depth without a good flow of water. A good friend said he could get water out of that old casing. So he inserted a 5" casing in the 6" casing. He only got to 150 feet because the other casing was slightly bent. So he perferated the entire casing after sealing the bottom, to about 20 feet from the top. With seepage we ended up with a flow rate of 5 Gallons per minute with a well pump.
On our new property, I talked to the person that runs the maintance for the town, and I suggested we try a 3 inch to 5 inch pipe, pointed at the end, and perferated. Pound it down to about 20 or 30 feet at the highest point on our land. There will be seepage water filling the pipe to or near the top of the pipe, so either a small sump pump, or if the heighth is high enough a siphoning devices to a large horse water type station at a lower section on the property. Once there, the downward pressure of gravity could be used to feed the runs to a soaker hose type system in the garden. In an emergency this non potoable water could be purified with clorox, or boiled for drinking or cooking water.
We are going to try this next spring. Anyone have any advise out there or has anyone already done this?

ATLANTA (AP) — Could your kitchen at home pass a restaurant inspection?

New research suggests that at least one in seven home kitchens would flunk the kind of health inspection commonly administered to restaurants.

The small study from California's Los Angeles County found that only 61 percent of home kitchens would get an A or B if put through the rigors of a restaurant inspection. At least 14 percent would fail — not even getting a C.

"I would say if they got below a C, I'm not sure I would like them to invite me to dinner," said Dr. Jonathan Fielding, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

In comparison, nearly all Los Angeles County restaurants — 98 percent — get A or B scores each year.

The initial fear I had returning to school this semester has subsided. Things are going really well for me right now, in both my academic and personal life. My grandmother is expected to make a full recovery and is doing very well at rehab. The other day my mom said she was outside playing bocce with her new friends at the nursing home! There are a lot of new, young string players in the program this year, as well as an incredibly talented older student who went "big time" and has returned to finally get his degree. My professor wisely kept me out of any principal chair positions because of my upcoming recital. I was initially surprised and a little disappointed, but I know that I am needed elsewhere, and I am more able to help the new people sitting where I am.
Recitals are a big deal, after all most of us will never give many (or any) solo public performances after we graduate. So we have fun with it by making fancy fliers and wearing fancy clothes. I looked at some dresses at JCPenney, but everything they had was retro-80's and super-short. I guess that's whats "in" for homecoming this year  I'm going to look elsewhere, might even go back to the shop where I bought my wedding dress.
It's a shame that sometimes I think "This is too good to be true". But after so many years of struggle and being too acquainted with bad things happening to me, I keep thinking it. But then I come back to reality and realize that things really HAVE changed for the better, and there's not too much that can take that away from us. Sometimes we still think and act like we did when we were dirt poor and bringing in less than 20K a year. Sometimes I still think "Oh we better hurry home someone will need me!", only to remember that my youngest is 2 years old now and doesn't need to nurse every two hours and is at home, sound asleep in bed.
Either way, I feel pretty good about my life right now-something that I realize not too many people can say right now. Things are by no means perfect, but I guess all I can say is don't give up on what you believe in, and take it from me-it DOES get better!

The elk sign was nice to see, i know they were close in this area, but seeing the proof is a plus. I will try and take pics next trip but i carry an older camera, kinda heavy so we will see. The fours found today were worthy of a pic.

Movie "Taking Chance"
Just watched this movie about a Marine (Kevin Bacon) who escorts another Marine's body that was killed in combat back to his family. The honor shown to Chance (the dead Marine)is almost overwhelming. I recommend the movie and recommend you have Kleenex.

Netflix; Taking Chance

Based on an article by Marine Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, this HBO original film tells the story of Strobl's emotional experience traveling across America as a volunteer escort officer for the body of fallen 19-year-old marine Chance Phelps. Along the 2004 journey to Phelps' hometown in Wyoming, Strobl (portrayed by Golden Globe winner Kevin Bacon) witnesses -- and is moved by -- acts of respect by everyday Americans.

I want to shoot pigeons and doves with 22 birdshot. Is there an effective birdshot manufacturer? I bought some Federal gamestopper birdshot and I patterned it at 15 yards. Shot is so spread out (15-20 inch diameter) that I dont think it will be an effective killer. I want to use this on headshots and save as much meat as possible and thats my reason for wanting the birdshot. At 40 yds my percentage of head shots would not be high enough to warrant genuine hunting with the .22 long rifle bullet.

Also I use a Ruger 10/22 LR and these cartridges Federal "gamestoppers" (birdshot) dont have enough power to power the autoload mechanism. Does anyone have any better ideas for an effective setup. Thanks
